For Such A Time As This

Esther 4:14 (NKJV):

“For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

If you are not familiar with the book of Esther, I hope that you will read and study it. It is an encouraging example of God’s providence. Although the name of God is not mentioned in the entire book of Esther, his work is evident throughout the series of events that take place.

God works through human choices and circumstances to accomplish his purposes. That is providence defined.

There are many occasions in our lives where things happen that do not make sense. Not by our human understanding. Don’t be discouraged when what you expected to happen doesn’t. Not only can you do nothing about it, but it’s possible that the Lord is working in that situation to accomplish a different purpose.

Perhaps one day you’ll be in a position to look back on your life and reflect on the series of events that took place to get you to where you are now. You wonder how all the pieces fit together so perfectly. When you have the word of God written on your heart, it doesn’t seem like such a mystery at all.

As Mordecai said to Esther, “who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
