Are You Tired of Your Church?

Have you ever been sitting in a church service and wonder “why are we doing this?” or “why is he teaching this?” You search the Bible to find the answer, but you can’t. You ask the preacher the same questions you’ve been asking yourself for weeks and he gives you his answer. The answer didn’t come from the Bible, but he eloquently explained it to you. Perhaps you weren’t satisfied with the answer and you began to feel like something wasn’t right. Maybe you had a hard time falling asleep that night as you contemplated the answer you received.

What did you decide to do? Maybe you decided to accept the answer he gave you and overlook the fact that it did not come from the Bible. After all, it’s what you’ve always known, it’s what your parents and grandparents believed, and all of these wonderful people have good hearts and the very best intentions, so you move on, you forget the problem. Even though you have made up your mind to overlook the issues and unanswered questions, you still have a feeling of worry or confusion from time to time when the subject crosses your mind.

If you’ve ever experienced this or kept these questions to yourself, you are not alone! There are a lot of good, important, and necessary questions today that are not being answered, and if they are being answered, the Bible is not the source, or the scriptures used are taken out of context and twisted to support the doctrines of that group.

1 Peter 3:15 (NKJV)

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;

Are you tired of overlooking the issues? Are you discouraged by the unanswered questions? Are you frustrated by sermons and doctrines that do not come from the Bible? Are you angry with the mishandling of scriptures by people who should make teaching the truth their top priority? Does the worship at your church seem like an effort to entertain and attract large crowds rather than glorifying God, edifying one another, and worshiping in spirit and truth?

If you’ve been nodding your head in agreement, it is time for you to search for the truth! I can help you find a congregation of faithful Christians that speak where the Bible speaks and remains silent when the Bible is silent. Wouldn’t it be refreshing to assemble and have fellowship with Christians who call Bible things by Bible names and do Bible things in Bible ways? Every Christian needs to hear the Bible preached, not doctrines and creeds that have been created by human beings.

Matthew 15:8-9 (NKJV)

These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ”

Christians need faithful brethren that preach Jesus, strive to glorify God, and live a surrendered life. All of this must be done in the way God commands. Churches today have left the truth for the sake of popularity. They have exchanged true worship for concerts, and exchanged preaching on sin and judgement for motivational speeches. This is NOT what God wants, in fact God does not even accept errored worship! (Lev. 10:1-2; Amos 5:23)

The fact that God does not accept errored worship should impress upon us the importance of finding a church that worships in spirit and truth! Jesus told the Samaritan woman “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:23-24)

Let’s go back to the Bible ALONE! Let’s worship according to the Bible ALONE! Let’s live according to the Bible ALONE! Why? Because “all Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

If you would like to have a Bible study about Christian living and worship or if you need help finding a church like the church of the Bible, please contact me! I want to invite you to visit us at Blue Springs Church of Christ in Mt. Vernon, KY. We are a group of Christians who love Jesus Christ, strive to share the hope of salvation to our community, and we allow the open book to be a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Don’t be afraid to make a change! Don’t be afraid to study the Bible! It is a matter of eternal importance.
