The Hem of His Garment

Mark 6:56 (NKJV)

“Wherever He entered, into villages, cities, or the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched Him were made well.”

When Jesus and His disciples entered the land of Gennesaret, they were greeted with wide recognition and pleas for Jesus’s healing touch. It says they begged Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment.

Although the desire of these people was to have their physical health restored, it still paints a beautiful picture of the strong desire these people had to come into contact with Jesus.

Do we have this kind of desire? We cannot touch the hem of His garment today, but we can do something much better! We can put Him on through baptism. We come into contact with the atoning Blood of Christ at the moment we submit to the gospel!

We do this through belief in Jesus as the Christ, repenting (turning) from our former self, confessing that Jesus is the Son of God, and being immersed (baptized) in water for the remission (forgiveness) of our sins!
