Jesus Cleanses A Leper

Luke 1:40-44 (NKJV)

40 Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.”

41 Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.”

42 As soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed.

43 And He strictly warned him and sent him away at once,

44 and said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing those things which Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

People who suffered from the skin disease of leprosy were treated as outcasts and avoided. Nobody would dare touch them or get in close proximity for fear of being infected. There was no cure for the dreaded disease, which gradually left a person disfigured through loss of fingers, toes and eventually limbs.

Many of these people suffered through years of pain. The pain they experienced was not only physical, but emotional. The isolation from friends and loved ones was a devastating consequence of contracting it.

How much love was shown when Jesus extended His loving arm and touched this leprous man, healing him instantly?

Wouldn’t that have been something to see? You can experience the same relief and freedom by coming into contact with Jesus Christ.

Sin, much like leprosy, takes over the whole body and defiles it. When we are living in sin, we are isolated from God and our souls are lost. But God provided a Way by His grace and through His love that we can have our sins removed and be cleansed in an instant!

What must we do? We must surrender to Jesus! We must obey the gospel!

John 8:31-32 (NKJV)

31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.

32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Do you want to be clean? Do you want to be washed in the Blood of The Lamb? Would you like to be a part of His kingdom? I would love to study with you about that.
