Satan’s Most Terrifying Appearance

2 Corinthians 11:14 (NKJV)

"And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light."

What comes to mind when you think about Satan? We instantly associate him with fear, evil, wickedness, irreverence, trickery, and deception. We imagine a cunning serpent in the garden of Eden or a red man with horns and a pitchfork, as he is often portrayed by Hollywood. Although these pictures are scary to us, nothing is more terrifying than Satan’s appearance as an angel of light.

How can we resist his plots and avoid his snares if we can’t identify him? The truth is, we can’t resist the temptations of the devil if we don’t recognize him. How is that fair? How can God judge us for something we can’t identify?

If God hadn’t given us a weapon to fight Satan with, it would be unfair. But we CAN identify Satan, even when he is disguised as an angel of light. We use the sword God has provided us with!

We hear a lot of false teachings listening to preachers on television, radio programs, and even in churches across our community. You might not realize you’re listening to a false teacher, believing in a false doctrine, or worshiping in error. This happens all the time! Especially when we trust the preacher to interpret the scriptures for us, never giving an occasion to personal study of the Bible.

The only way we can know the truth and avoid the cunning deception of the Devil is to have the word of God written on our hearts! We can’t be deceived if we know and love the truth.

King Jesus taught “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32)

Would you like to know more about the word of God? Would you like to equip yourself to reject Satan’s lies? It starts in the word and I would be happy to study the it with you!
